Meet The HubCube Co-Founders

Updated: Aug 23, 2019

You might think working from home is a dream come true... but sometimes it can be a little too challenging when it comes to separating home from work. If you've only recently tried the freelancing bandwagon, your home office is the perfect setup. How about when clients start flooding up? You need to hire more people on board and set meetings, work on projects, etc. Coffee shops? No, they're just a little too noisy and you won’t be able to focus on your projects and deadlines. Dedicated home office? Yeah sure, but it can make you less productive. Worry no more, we got you covered! Co-working spaces are your answered prayer, and The HubCube is leading the game.

The HubCube was made possible by these two ladies who met for coffee back in March 2019, discussed their freelancing frustrations and eventually led to merging their ideas together. Liezel Pabion is an online Senior Manager for a foreign business agency, teaching aspiring virtual assistants to become the best at Amazon while Elonah Bioneda is an online freelancer from Upwork who ventured her own digital agency, acquiring different clients from the US, Australia and the UK. She was looking for an office space of her own to start her digital agency but couldn't find the "perfect" office. She started looking for co-working spaces but some were too expensive, others were too noisy to do meetings with clients.

Along with Elonah's life partner, who is now the Finance Director of The HubCube, the team figured they can put up their own co-working space and do their daily freelance work together... and with other like-minded individuals, too! It was like hitting two birds with one stone. Liezel is now the HR, Legal & Admin of the company. Meanwhile, Elonah handles all things digital, social and public relations being the company's Marketing Director.

What was the hardest part of putting up The HubCube?

Liezel: Looking for an Architect who understands our vision, design and budget was the challenging part. But we were able to find one whom we are thankful for. Also, since we're not the first co-working space in Bacolod City, it's challenging to set us up... but that's why we're excited for this venture. It's our blood, sweat and tears, literally.

So, why should one choose The HubCube among others?

Elonah: The fact that we haven't opened yet but people are already excited to co-work with us already makes us different. We think of ourselves as the game changers of this business in the city, and we're not stopping anytime soon. This is just the beginning. Not only do you get a chance to work with fellow freelancers, you can also enjoy a good view of the city. You have the opportunity to book a seat for seminars or talks for free -- yes, that's right -- of successful people in the freelancing industry, hear their struggles and learn some tips and tricks of the game.

Why should millennials choose to co-work?

Liezel: It's 2019, and everybody, almost every one, wants to put up a business. But then you have to figure out where to establish yourself, where do you meet clients? How are you able to pay for all of the expenses when it comes to self-employing yourself. Co-working is the perfect solution, and we're sure millennials are very savvy and smart nowadays.

Why should young entrepreneurs invest in an office space?

Elonah: When you invest in an office space, you invest in your personal growth. It's important to establish yourself professionally by way of an office, especially if you're dealing with client meetings almost everyday. Also, why not invest in one? It's 2019 and everybody wants to kickstart a career of their own. We're just there to build them up and hone them because young people are the future.

Any advice to younger people who want to start their own business?

Liezel: Find a business partner you're comfortable with sharing your wins and your losses. Also, it's important to have a vision of your business first, where you see yourself 3-5 years from now. It's not enough to just be an employee, right? Starting a business can be both challenging and rewarding.

Any future plans for The HubCube?

Elonah: Get ready for some kickass co-working madness from #TeamHubCube!
